Last week one of my subscribers (thanks Tiff!) asked if I could create a Chinese New Year makeup look  incorporating the traditional colours of red and gold. At first I was hesitant because although it’s a great idea I was afraid you would be tired of red and gold makeup looks after Christmas. I decided to go ahead anyway and I’m really pleased how it turned out, it definitely doesn’t look like Christmas makeup!

I did a little research into why red and gold are the traditional celebratory colours for ringing in Chinese New Year and it’s quite interesting. Red symbolizes good luck and fortune and is associated with happiness, while gold symbolizes completeness and wealth. What a great way to start the new year!

If you are celebrating Chinese New Year at the end of the month I hope you have a wonderful time and don’t forget to share your photos with me if you recreate this look – Enjoy!
