Tutorial: Modern Pin Up Makeup inspired by Gwen Stefani – A Wearable Marilyn Monroe

I can’t believe I haven’t done this look yet, Gwen Stefani has been a bit of a style hero of mine since I was about 12! Tragic Kingdom was the first album I ever bought and still features in my top 10 of all time.

So this look is more about her more recent makeup look, it’s still her classic signature look but just a little bit softer and toned down, so it’s a lot easier to wear. This is a great look to try if you love the pin up style but are scared of wearing such strong makeup.

This is the image I was working from

And my version, before and after

And I applied some photoshop magic to give myself brown eyes, so you can see how this makeup looks quite different on someone with darker eyes, I personally think darker eyes help to balance the very defined brow and strong. Granted it’s not the best photoshopping in the world but I tried!

I came from your YT channel to check out your experiment with the eye colour. Totally impressive transformation! You could try coloured contact lenses to emulate the effect on video.

  3. You have to tell me how do you take your pictures and what camera are you using? The pictures look amazing and so professional! Do you photoshop a lot?
Anyway, beautiful looks as usual :)

    • Its a panasonic Lumix g2, the same one I record my video’s on. I use photoshop to white out the background and brighten up the image, but no airbrushing! I’m not that good!

  5. It reaaally makes a huge difference with brown eyes, like, it looks your eyes get bigger! I have brown eyes and yeah I’d probably look really silly with blue eyes lol, but with you is different, very cool change! :D and This is great loved the kinda smudgy edgy pinup look, Sharon.

You didn’t do your eyebrows dark enough. Just sayin.

P.S. You scrub up well. I’d definitely stick with the blue eyes if I were you!
